YORK® product

YORK® AP

The AP is York's standard multi-position air handler: it installs in any orientation without extra kits, holds air leakage under 2% so the air you paid to condition actually reaches the rooms, and its composite low-water-retention drain pan resists mold and bacteria buildup — a genuine concern in humid Central Texas. A built-in filter rack takes standard 1-inch filters.

YORK® AP

Factory-authorized

YORK® AP

The AP is York's standard-efficiency air handler: a one-piece, multi-position cabinet with a multi-speed PSC blower that installs upflow, downflow, or horizontal without extra conversion kits. It's the straightforward indoor half for entry and mid-tier heat pump and AC systems where the budget leads the decision.

The cabinet details matter more than the motor here. York factory-seals it to 2% or less air leakage at test conditions — leaky air-handler cabinets are one of the quiet efficiency thieves in Texas attic installs — and the composite, positively-sloped drain pan sheds condensate instead of pooling it, which starves mold and bacteria of standing water. The MaxAlloy aluminum coil resists the corrosion that eats older copper-tube coils.

A built-in filter rack takes standard one-inch filters, so basic filtration is part of the package rather than an add-on. When we install an AP we set the blower tap to match your duct system's measured static pressure, not the factory default.

Every install starts with a free in-home assessment and a flat written price — no surprises. Call 512-528-4258 or request service online.

Who this model fits

  • Value-tier system replacements paired with single-stage outdoor units like the YC2E or YH2E.
  • Attic and closet installs where the sealed cabinet and mold-resistant drain pan earn their keep in our humidity.
  • Rentals and flips where dependable and serviceable beats fancy.

Warranty

  • York: 10-year parts limited warranty (with registration).
  • MLD Services: lifetime workmanship warranty — if our install or repair work ever fails, we make it right.

York's extended warranty terms require online registration within 90 days of installation — otherwise parts coverage reverts to 5 years. We register every unit we install as part of the job, so you never have to think about it.

The honest note

A PSC blower uses noticeably more electricity than an ECM one and moves air at fixed speeds. If your system runs most of the year — as most here do — the step up to an ECM air handler often pays for itself. We'll show you both numbers.

From the field

Owning this system in Central Texas

Owning an AP is simple: change the one-inch filter monthly in peak season (our dust and cedar load filters faster than the box suggests), and have the drain pan and float switch checked each spring — attic condensate is the most preventable insurance claim in Central Texas.

If you're pairing it with a heat pump, we'll spec the right electric heat kit (2.5–25 kW) for backup heat and wire it on its own breaker per code. Oversized strip heat is a hidden bill-inflator; we size it to the home, not to the biggest kit on the truck.
