The two-stage compressor is the meaningful upgrade for Central Texas. Low stage runs longer and steadier through the humid shoulder seasons, pulling moisture out of the air the way short single-stage bursts never do; high stage covers the July peaks. Owning this system in Central Texas
To collect the two-stage benefit, the thermostat must call both stages properly — we verify staging behavior at commissioning and again at maintenance, because a mis-wired stage on packaged equipment is a common inheritance from previous installers.
The 10-year electric heat warranty is unusual and worth registering: strip-heat elements are a routine failure item on packaged units elsewhere, and on the PCE6 they're covered for a decade on registered units.
One sizing note specific to staged packaged units: ductwork designed around an old single-stage unit sometimes can't feed low-stage airflow gracefully, which shows up as noise at the registers. Our pre-install duct check catches that, and a modest damper or register adjustment usually resolves it before it becomes your daily soundtrack.
