YORK® PHE4
The PHE4 is a single-stage packaged heat pump: 14 SEER cooling and 8.0 HSPF heating from one outdoor cabinet, with no gas connection required. For buildings without gas service, it's the simplest complete answer — one unit, one electrical feed, heating and cooling done.
It arrives factory-assembled, charged, and tested, needing only power, duct, and condensate connections, and optional electric heat kits provide supplemental capacity for cold snaps. York's time/temperature defrost logic trims winter power consumption, and every component stays accessible from outside the building for service.
In our climate a heat pump covers the overwhelming majority of heating hours efficiently — the short Texas winter is what heat pumps are best at. This is the value tier of York's packaged heat pump line, installed factory-authorized and quoted flat-rate.
Every install starts with a free in-home assessment and a flat written price — no surprises. Call 512-528-4258 or request service online.

All-electric packaged heat pumps earn their keep here — our mild winters are exactly their strength — but backup strip heat sizing decides your worst-case bill. We size strips to the actual heat loss, stage them, and set the outdoor lockout so they only run when the heat pump genuinely needs help.
Winter defrost steam and brief backup-heat blasts are normal operating behavior; a fall maintenance visit that verifies the defrost cycle and staging is what keeps 'normal' from drifting into 'expensive.'
If you're replacing a packaged AC-with-electric-heat unit (a PCE-style machine), stepping to this heat pump is usually the single biggest winter operating-cost cut available: the compressor moves heat at two to three times the efficiency of resistance strips. Same cabinet concept, same footprint — meaningfully different February bill.
