Straight talk first: York has discontinued the YCD and no longer lists it on york.com. It was a 13 SEER, single-stage unit built for the pre-2023 northern-region efficiency minimum, and the 2023 Department of Energy standards ended its run — its successor in York's lineup is the YC2D. The specs below come from York's archived technical literature, not a current product page.

Warranty
- York (as originally sold): 10-year compressor and 10-year parts limited warranties with registration; units installed unregistered carried 5-year terms.

York's extended warranty terms require online registration within 90 days of installation — otherwise parts coverage reverts to 5 years. We register every unit we install as part of the job, so you never have to think about it.
The honest note
We won't source a discontinued 13 SEER unit for a new install — it can't be legally installed as a new system under current efficiency standards, and it wouldn't serve you well if it could.

Owning this system in Central Texas
If you own a YCD: keep it maintained rather than babying it. A clean coil, correct charge, and a healthy capacitor are cheap insurance, and most YCD failures we see are inexpensive electrical parts, not compressors. When the compressor itself goes, that's usually the replacement conversation.
One caution on partial repairs: matching a new indoor coil or air handler to a 13 SEER outdoor unit rarely makes sense, because the new component outlives the old condenser and constrains the eventual system replacement.
