The YXT is the two-stage step in York's premium Affinity line: a two-stage scroll compressor rated up to 19.75 SEER (18+ SEER2), ENERGY STAR certified, with York's QuietDrive system holding sound to 67 dBA. The low stage does the quiet, patient work that Central Texas shoulder seasons demand — long run times that pull humidity out of the air instead of blasting and quitting.
It's also communications-capable. Wired conventionally it behaves like a very good two-stage unit; wired as a communicating system with the Hx3 thermostat it self-commissions on start-up, reports its own faults, and can be checked from the outdoor unit, the thermostat, or the app. On our maintenance visits that diagnostic data turns guesswork into evidence.

To get what you paid for, run it communicating: four thermostat wires, the Hx3 control, and a variable-speed indoor unit (JHVT, AVV, or a TM8V/TM9V furnace). Self-commissioning on start-up catches setup errors that conventional wiring hides, and the fault history makes every future service call faster.
Expect long low-stage run times in April–June and September–October — that's the design working, not a problem. Homeowners new to staged equipment sometimes read the longer cycles as 'struggling'; it's the opposite, and your humidity readings will show it.
